The first piece for the photographer was a black and white custom logotype, available in two different versions: a longer one, with his first and surname for a digital watermark, and a shorter version, which had his initials in the same typeface as the other version. The purpose of these logos is to communicate a sense of elegance and sobriety, according Sangalli’s style.
First impressions are critical for a photographer. In most cases, the initial contact with a potential client is made through business cards, brochures, or websites. For Emanuele Sangalli, the basic elements of visual identity have been business cards, corporate paper products (such as envelopes, letterheads, forms and CD/DVD covers), and an update of his website to match the new design.
All of the designs are made to be in black and white, so he can print the materials inexpensively in his workshop.
In addition, the photographer needed special packaging for his finished CDs, DVDs, and photo albums.
This black and white packaging goes far beyond being merely protection for the products. This is actually one of the most important and distinctive element of the visual identity, being the first thing the consumer sees of what he has purchased. Each part of the packaging is hand made and features Emanuele Sangalli’s colors and basic design aesthetic.
